DO'S and DON'TS

Professional House Cleaning

One of the most widely asked questions from my Customer's is "How do I remove a spot'? Here are a few basic steps to follow. These are recommendations for a variety of common food and household spills and stains, but due to the many items that can be spilled, not all spots or stains can be removed completely and some may cause permanent damage.

Time is the key to success. Get to the spot as soon as possible. A spot can set in the carpet fibers and cause a permanent discoloration by waiting.

Some spots contain solid matter which should be scraped up using a spoon or oval knife. Scoop from the outside of the spot inward to the middle so as not to spread the spot out creating a larger problem.

--ABSORB --

Excellence = Quality

Only use a white absorbent towel or paper towels to blot, not rub, the area. Continue to blot until your towel has absorbed as much as it can. Then place another towel over the spot and weight it down with heavy objects
such as books and leave it on the spot at least 30
to 45 minutes.

Now with a damp towel, apply your spotter directly on the towel and again blot the area. Try not to rub as this may spread the spot. Applying the spotter directly onto the carpet may force the spot deeper into the fibers or below the backing only to re-appear as it dries. Finally, you may want to place another white absorbent towel or paper towels on the spot once more.
